ILEA West Coast Collaborative Event

The International Live Events Association (ILEA) is a global community of thousands of creative event professionals whose skills, expertise, and experience power some of the most influential live events around the world. ILEA chapters from all over the West Coast joined forces to kick off 2021 by bringing events professionals together for a virtual event in order to network as a community in a new, innovative way.

Initially, we were planning to have an in-person event but realized that the pandemic would keep this from being possible.

We considered hosting the event in San Diego with an indoor and outdoor layout and having Kate Patay on site as guest speaker with a small group in attendance. We thought that this style of event would show that we were able to host an event safely, but realized it was not going to be impactful or cost effective.

Another option we considered was to host the event in-person in San Diego with a live stream option for the other chapters located in other areas around the country. The other chapters would have the option to host their own pop-up event at the same time. It really depended upon the severity of what was going on in each area at the time of the event. We kept watching the reports on the pandemic and realized there was just no way to host this event in person.

We really needed a way to host this event safely in a cost effective way.

SOLUTIONS

It made sense for us to run our event virtually in EXVO so everyone could be in attendance.

We were able to network as if we were interacting in person.

Kate Patay was able present as naturally as she would have in person and all event attendees were able to listen and learn.

Kate was able to network with the crowd which we wouldn’t have been able to do had chosen to do this event in person with live stream. EXVO provided the full interaction between Kate and attendees.
