5 Ways To Relax This Summer

Summer is the perfect time of year for relaxing yet how many of us are still busy rushing around from appointment to appointment without even noticing the warm, beautiful air?

Especially if you are in the midst of planning your wedding, life is for sure quite hectic right now, right?

But.

You need to relax.

You need to set aside some time for yourself to unwind, breathe, and enjoy the little things in life that make you happy. Constantly being on the go and tackling to do lists is certainly better than being lazy but over time, can really do a number on your mental and physical health.

We know you have a lot to do in order to effectively plan the most special wedding day ever but your health and mindset are important too! You deserve some down time and the opportunity to unwind.

We put together the top 5 ways you should relax this summer.

1. Unplug:

Of course we are big fans of technology and yes it helps to make our wedding planning easier but the truth is, most of us are too plugged in! Constantly being engaged with social media and glued to our phones can lead to increased stress, anxiety and the inability to sleep soundly!

Try to set some time limits when it comes to your technology and social media. Check emails only during certain time periods and give some thought to completely unplugging for a day. You will be amazed by how good it feels!

Remember what you used to do before smart phones existed? Bring those hobbies and activities back into your life!

When was the last time you read a book? Go to your local library and check out the newest novels. Make the time in the evening to read before bed rather than scrolling through Facebook.

2. Dine outdoors:

There is something very special about enjoying a meal outdoors in the summer. Summer allows us the chance to enjoy nature while giving our bodies some necessary Vitamin D via the sunlight.

Dining by the water is an added comfort bonus too! Watching the water, be it the ocean, bay or lake (even the pool!) can be extremely calming.

3. Make a plan with a friend and KEEP the plan!

How many of us are guilty of canceling plans with our friends because we feel as though we really don’t have the time?

Our personal relationships, aside from the one with our partner, are extremely important to our well-being!

Get together with the girls, schedule dinner plans with a close friend and be sure to keep the plan. Do not allow work, your wedding planning or anything else to get in the way!

Giving ourselves the okay to relax and catch up with the people who matter to us are crucial components to a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

4. Meal Prep

Preparing meals for the week or even just prepping one main dish for Sunday’s dinner may not sound relaxing but trust us, it will serve you well.

The hustle and bustle of eating on the go can be extremely stressful so it is important to plan out and cook some meals at home. Many people find cooking in their own kitchen a very nice way to unwind. Select a recipe from a cookbook, pick a dessert to bake from our Pinterest Boards or simply chop up some fresh summer fruits and veggies to have on hand as snacks for the week.

5. Treat Yourself

What is your favorite thing to do when you have some time? Maybe it’s going for a pedicure, maybe it’s window shopping at the mall. Perhaps you enjoy sitting by the pool. Whatever it is, make it a point to fit that special something into your routine.

By slowing down a bit and making time for the activities we enjoy, we are better able to focus when it comes to balancing our responsibilities, like planning a wedding!
